Do & Don't's of Witnessing
Do 's
1) Do emphasize that Jesus Loves them. Christianity isn't about a bunch of Do's & Don'ts or a bunch of rules. Christianity is about Love.
2) Do emphasize that you are NOT perfect and you need Jesus just remember as much as they do.
3) Do remember to brush your teeth everyday. Never witness with bad breath remember that "they smell you before they hear you." This may be funny but remember that bad breath can cause people to tune out what you are saying.
4) Do be sensitive to a person's background and beliefs.
5) Do smile and show that Jesus has filled you with joy.
6) Do constantly pray (silently and/or in your head), for God to guide your words.
7) Do ask challenging questions such as:
"Are you 100% sure that if you were to die today that you would go to heaven ?
"If you died today and you stood before God, and God said to you, 'Why should I let you into my heaven?' what would you say to Him."
Don't 's
1) Don't ever tell someone that they are going to Hell. If a person asks you. "Do you believe I'm going to heaven ?", say, "It's not my job to judge" or say, "If you give your life to Jesus will go to heaven." If a person asks, "what if I don't accept Jesus and die, where do I go ?", then it is okay to say Hell. Say it with all sincerity. This will convince the person that you seriously believe Jesus is the only way to heaven.
2) Don't act fake. Don't pretend to know all the answers to their questions. Don't pretend that you've got it all togehter. Help the person you are witnessing to realize that you are NOT perfect, just forgiven.
3) Don't make fun of any other religion or denomanation.
4) Don't discuss politics or abortion when trying to lead someone to Jesus. 99% of the time it will lead to an arguement.
5) DON'T EVER, under any circumstances, argue with a non-believer. It is useless.
6) Don't ever tell someone they are not saved, if they are claiming to be saved. Explain what salvation and christianity are all about and then allow the person to realize their need for Jesus on their own.
